Continuing my experimentation with Aurora HDR, I went back and found some unprocessed brackets from a 2009 trip to New York and fed them through the software to see how it handles dusk cityscapes (one of my favourite things to shoot). Once again, I like the results though I’m still a bit frustrated at not really feeling as if I have as much control as I would like. Most of that, I expect, is due to my lack of experience with the tool and not really knowing what each of the sliders is for yet. Regardless, the picture that I made pop out at the end of the slider tweaking looked the way I wanted it to so I can’t really complain.
This shot was taken from the “Top of the Rock” observation deck at the Rockefeller Center. This is, as I’ve mentioned before, the least tripod-friendly location in a very tripod-unfriendly city. Thank goodness I had a Gorillapod with me because none of the security guys were perturbed when I used it instead of the tripod which was lying at my feet on the otherwise-deserted deck.
