If you’re wondering how those micro-islands end up with palms on them, here’s your answer. The beaches in Fiji (and, I suspect, all throughout the tropics) are strewn with coconuts which float in on the ride. Some small number of them sprout and take root and a percentage of those end up making it to full tree-hood.
