Boy in a Hammock, Savusavu, Fiji

One of the highlights of our Fiji trip was being invited to a local family Christmas party on the beach next to our rental house. The housekeepers, Sunita and Subash, organised a lovo (a traditional Fijian barbecue where the food is cooked on hot rocks covered in banana leaves in a charcoal pit) for their entire extended family and we had a super afternoon of eating, drinking and making merry right by the ocean. A hammock strung between a couple of coconut palms proved popular, especially among the kids who could use it as a 3-person swing.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.6
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 210mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s
