Alamo Militia Member

During our visit to the Alamo last Saturday, this gentleman, dressed in the uniform of a member of the Texas militia from the 1830s, gave a fascinating presentation on the equipment soldiers of the time would carry. Their playing cards had no kings or queens (who would want to be reminded of monarchy?) and their food supplies consisted mostly of beans, pecans, coffee and hard tack. Life is better these days.

For the technically inclined...
