Tiger Band Baritone

When I’m shooting marching bands, I’ll usually stick at least one unusual lens (which means “not the 24-70mm or 70-210mm” which are my standard band lenses) in the bag and play with it during the game. On the night of last year’s Bastrop game, I had my 85mm f/1.8 and used it for some headshots and to create images like this one. It’s a great lens for picking out details in busy scenes.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/1.8
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Exposure bias: -3/6EV
  • Focal length: 85mm
  • ISO: 2200
  • Shutter speed: 1/90s
