I love the roping events but, certainly during night rodeos like Wimberley and Dripping Springs, they are the most difficult to photograph for me. To get a head-on shot like this one, you have to be at the opposite end of the arena from the chute. To frame it nicely, you need a long lens but, in low light, that means you have problems getting your shutter speed fast enough to freeze the action. Thank goodness for modern cameras that can give good results at high ISO settings!
