Violins at TMEA

I had fun on Saturday visiting the Texas Music Educators’ Conference in San Antonio. The visit was primarily to hear my youngest play in the All State 5A Symphonic Band (yes, that was a blatant proud-dad plug) but we also got access to the exhibit halls and spent a couple of hours looking at and playing various wonderful instruments on show. As a flute player (I was a lot better 30 years ago), my highlights were getting a note out of a 7 foot contra-bass, playing top end professional instruments that made me sounds amazing (but which I could never dream of affording) and finally having a chance to play on an alto flute or two.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.6
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Exposure bias: -3/6EV
  • Focal length: 125mm
  • ISO: 4500
  • Shutter speed: 1/60s
