Snowy Smokies

The weather during our trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park was somewhat mixed. Wednesday and Thursday were overcast and Friday was just straight wet all day. On Saturday, however, things cleared and the temperature dropped below freezing. We took a drive along the amazing new Foothills Parkway (opened only that morning after 40 years of planning and construction) which follows the crest of a ridge on the edge of the park and offers spectacular views which allowed us to see that snow had fallen on the taller peaks during the night.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/11
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 210mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/60s
