New Austin

It has been three or four years since I last shot a skyline panorama from Auditorium Shores. In that time, pretty much all the buildings in this frame have either appeared or been renovated. My favourite location to shoot these images from is the section of Hike and Bike Trail just to the east of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue but the vegetation on the river bank had grown to a point where the view there was obstructed. I got round this problem by shooting from the drone this year but that led to other problems, not the least of which was the fact that I’m still getting to grips with how it handles low light (the answer being mostly “not very well”).

This is one frame of a three frame HDR panorama. Wide panos don’t fit well on this site but you can find the full width image up on my Flickr account at https://www.flickr.com/photos/dawilson/46202868161.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/2.8
  • Camera: FC2103
  • Exposure bias: -1EV
  • Focal length: 4.5mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/15s
