My son and I spent yesterday afternoon having a ball down at the Alamo City Motorplex (the drag track in San Antonio) where Club Loose Texas was having its first drifting event of the year. We had been invited by one of the students on the robotics team and I was delighted to meet a couple of other kids (well, they were kids when I was their Cub Scout Den Leader a few years ago) I knew too. In the end, I took a lot of bad pictures, a few good ones, made a bunch of basic photography errors, and learned that shooting drifting is rather different from “normal” racing (more of which in later posts).
The highlight of the day, however, was riding in the passenger seat of Henry Windsor’s Firebird on one of his track outings. 40mph has never felt so fast! Drew also got a couple of rides including the one pictured here where Dallas Hudson is driving a custom drifting car that he and his dad built last summer.
