I headed in to Dripping Springs yesterday evening to cover the annual “Fire in the Sky” 4th of July fireworks display. The show was as good as ever but the atmosphere was very much dampened by the rain, far lower crowd size than usual, and the news of the horrible flooding and loss of life just west of us in Kerrville and Hunt. The rain and flooding continue today (though, thankfully, we’re fine and have missed the worst with only about 3″ of rain at our home so far) and my thoughts are with all those searching for missing loved ones and dealing with terrible loss today.
