Texas Memorial Stadium

I think it’s time for a change so I’ll switch to a series of images from this past football season. With the advent of high quality video, we no longer need to have a band photographer stationed high above the 50 yard line at half time to capture marching formations so one of us is free to look for new opportunities. I took advantage of this newfound freedom and trekked to the top of the stadium to capture the show with a fisheye lens during the November 1st, 2025 game between the Longhorns and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium originally opened in 1924 with a seating capacity of 27,000. After the latest set of additions in 2021, the official capacity is now just over 100,000 with the attendance record set during the UT/Georgia game in 2024 which saw over 105,000 people in the stadium.

For the technically inclined...

  • Camera: OM-1
  • Exposure bias: -5/10EV
  • Focal length: 8mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s
