After my initial take on this image (which you can see in this recent post), I decided I wasn’t keen on the green hue inside the engine nozzle and that a monochrome treatment of the image would be better. After a bit of tweaking and a rotation, here’s the result. I’m extremely happy with this image. When I was taking the shot, the thing that struck me as most interesting was the incredible fine texture within the interior of the nozzle. Removing the colour and fiddling with the contrast and fill light has really allowed me to bring this out in this version of the image.
What do you think?
To see this at its best, I recommend taking a trip over to the same image on Flickr since I’ve uploaded the full resolution version there. This image is definitely on my list for next year’s exhibition and I suspect it’s going to look fantastic printed large.
Wonderful work. I also like the color version a lot, yet the background in the version, is slightly distracting. This B/W works well.
Fantastic!
