Temple of Sinawava, Zion National Park

This spectacular rock face can be found at the top end of the vehicle-accessible section of Zion Canyon at the bend in the river just before it enters the Narrows.

This view is the “Temple of Sinawava” rising above the Virgin River. Your photos are wonderful. Enjoy your week in Zion Canyon. If you get a chance stop by the Grotto residence and say hello to Dennis Farris, a fine landscape painter from Texas, who is the “Artist in Residence” in Zion this month.

The last bottom picture, that rock at the right is too flat …I am curious what natural process can end up creating such huge flat surface? Ha? Name it please ….What natural process?….seems carved by some beings…there are globally numerous huge rocks and mountains carved in ancient times to look like human faces…search on YouTube for faces in rocks

I’m completely sure the rock formation shapes in Zion are natural but you would have to find a geologist to ask for a detailed explanation of the processes involved.
