State Capitol Extension

I don’t often got to the Texas State Capitol these days and take a shot that I’ve never taken before but here’s one I captured last Sunday afternoon while trying out the new D700 and 14-24mm f/2.8 lens (both of which are fabulous, by the way). This shows the area of the extension just inside the underground rotunda.

I’m experimenting with varying my bracketing style when shooting HDRs and am being helped by the fact that the auto-bracketing on the D700 won’t let me space exposures more than 1 stop apart. This shot was generated from 8 separate exposures spaced by a stop rather than my more usual 4 exposures at 2 stop intervals. Having played with these files, I’m pretty convinced that I get better results with single stop bracketing so I’ll put up with the extra storage and processing time and keep this up for a while.

Nice shot Dave. I’ve been playing with bracketing more exposures as well. Although others say it generates more noise, I am finding that I get better results.
