Deep In The Heart of Texas

Sky viewing conditions were amazing last night at Pedernales Falls State Park where we were camping with our Cub Scout pack. Unfortunately, the camp was cut short for us by a sick 7 year old (he’s a lot better now that he’s had the panacea – Chicken Noodle Soup) but not until after I took some night sky shots showing the Milky Way.

Nice job Dave! I like this one better than the one you put on flickr. I’m amaze at how you were able to balance the light on the ground vs the stars in the sky. Excellent!

Evan, the secret was trial and error to be honest. I shot three or four images at different exposures and checked the image before tweaking and trying again. In some, I light-painted the foreground but I’m pretty sure this one didn’t include me adding any light.
