Marmoset, Austin Zoo

My youngest son wants a marmoset for a pet. He reckons they are the cutest animals around and I would be hard pressed to find many that are cuter (tarsiers, perhaps?). Obviously, however, he’s going to have to be content with visiting them at Austin Zoo.

As with the vast majority of the animal shots I took at the zoo, this was taken through the bars of a cage. Getting close enough to make the bars disappear is really tricky, especially when the sun is shining on the bars. In this case, however, the blur pattern caused by both the bars between me and the animal, and the mesh behind him made a really interesting bokeh pattern and turned this into a postable picture for me.

What do you think? I’m not a huge fan of pictures of animals in cages but I think this shot works.
