El Capitan from Valley View

Wow – I just finished an epic 16 hours of shooting in Yosemite during which I’ve added about 900 exposures to my (as yet totally unedited) collection from this trip. Rather than posting an archive image today, here’s one that I shot about 4 hours ago at Valley View. It shows El Capitan on the left and the Merced River in the foreground.

I’ve been looking at pictures from Yosemite for years but none of these prepared me for the enormous scale of the park. The rock formations are truly enormous, with some cliffs falling 2600 metres or more. That’s about 9000 feet for the metrically challenged.

More Yosemite later in the week once I find some time to put a dent in the editing job.
