Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse must be one of the most photographed places in Maine. The line of photographers and tripods waiting for sunset brought back memories of Delicate Arch in Arches National Park for me. I sometimes wonder whether it’s really a good idea to shoot popular (some may even say clichéd) scenes like this but, then again, they are popular because they are so photogenic so why shouldn’t I have my very own version of that picture too? In this case, massive kudos goes to Chris Nitz who decided to think outside the box and, instead of shooting the lighthouse, walked forward through the boulder field and shot back towards the photographers and the full moon rising behind them. If and when he posts it on his site, I’ll add a link here.
So cool to see your framing on this, considering I couldn’t see anyone’s from my position! Nicely done dude!
Thanks, Scott. I have several others that are wider than this but I liked this one to start with. No doubt, I’ll process and post the others later.
Wow! What lovely light on a brilliant seascape! Well done Dave!
What a great weekend and what a great shot!
