Lobster Pots at Peggy’s Cove

In addition to the lighthouse, Peggy’s Cove is also home to another working fishing wharf and a quaint little village. As is common throughout the region, the wharf featured piles of lobster pots (which may be a British description since folks here tend to call them “traps”) waiting to be loaded. Aside from sport fishing boats going after tuna, it seems that the majority of fishing activity from these small ports is for lobster or shellfish such as mussels, clams and oysters. Over on Prince Edward Island, our other destination on this trip, many of the coves are full of aquaculture operations growing mussels and oysters.
