Texas African American History Memorial

The top of the Texas African American History Memorial in the grounds of the state capitol in Austin. This monument, installed in 2016, is undoubtedly my favourite of the 22 installed in the area around the capitol building. It traces the history of African Americans in Texas from the 1500s. The centrepiece depicts Juneteenth, June 19th 1865, when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the state.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/9.5
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Focal length: 92mm
