Riverside Museum, Glasgow

The Riverside Museum sits on the River Clyde opposite the Glasgow Science Centre in another redeveloped section of the city’s old docklands and shipbuilding area. It is the home to a great collection of vehicles and transport memorabilia.

This is the third location to host the transport museum in my lifetime. I remember visiting several times as a child and loving the steam trains and trams in the exhibit hall. On my latest visit last October, however, the collection made me feel old since it now contains at least a couple of cars that our family owned back in the 1970s and 1980s. These included a Ford Escort of the same vintage as the one I learned to drive in and even a newer model of Ford Granada than the one my father owned at the same time.

For the technically inclined...
