FAA DC-3

This Douglas DC-3, built in 1954, can be found in the collection at the Texas Air and Space Museum in Amarillo. In this configuration, the aircraft, tail number N34, spent the years between 1966 and 1979 operating as a Fllight Inspection Aircraft monitoring radio frequency use around Americas’s airports for the Federal Aviation Administration. It also has the distinction of being one of only 3 moveable objects registered on the National Registry of Historic Places, the other two being San Francisco’s cable cars and New Orleans’ streetcars.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Focal length: 57mm
  • ISO: 3200
  • Shutter speed: 1/100s
