Junior

After a two year hiatus thanks to COVID, Dripping Springs Founders’ Day is back! The celebration now spans three days, starting with a parade on Friday evening and finishing on Sunday afternoon, and I spent Friday and Saturday photographing the goings-on.

Saturday is dominated by the barbecue competition where teams travel from across the state to cook and be judged on their brisket, chicken, ribs, sausage, salsa, chili and a whole bunch of other smoked treats. The Lone Star Chili and BBQ Team is always part of the contest and spend most of their weekend making fresh (and fabulous) tortillas and handing out sausage wraps to visitors. Junior is a member of the team and kindly let me make a portrait of him on Saturday afternoon.

You can find all my photos from the festivities at https://davewilson.smugmug.com/Miscellaneous/Founders-Day-2022/.
