Leapin’ Lizard Guest House

On this trip to Big Bend, we based ourselves in Terlingua and stayed in the same idyllic guest house we found last year. The Leapin’ Lizard is a lovely adobe and stone structure right on the edge of Terlingua with amazing views of the Chisos Mountains. It’s totally off the grid – solar power, water trucked in, outhouse with incinerating toilet, open-roofed shower, outdoor kitchen – but absolutely peaceful and a glorious place to spend a couple of days.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/2.8
  • Camera: FC3411
  • Focal length: 8.38mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter speed: 1/90s
