Four Angels

Four F/A-18 Super Hornets of the US Navy Blue Angels demonstration team in formation during a practice session over Pensacola Beach, Florida on August 19th, 2021.

I took this on a fabulous morning when I had no expectation at all of seeing the Blue Angels. I was visiting Fort Pickens and heard aircraft outside as I was finishing photographing the interior brickwork. On exiting, I was amazed to see the team practicing overhead since I had previously read that they were supposed to be out of town that week. Thankfully I had my long lenses in the car so spent half an hour or so enjoying the show and photographing the formations.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.2
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Exposure bias: +1/2EV
  • Focal length: 276mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/2000s
