Wow – what a week! I’m just back from 4 days in Houston where our local high school robotics team was competing in the 2023 FIRST World Championships along with 600 other teams and about 40,000 robotics fans from around the globe. The standard of game play and the quality of the robots was outstanding and we’re all fired up to do even greater things next year and, hopefully, qualify to come back to the 2024 event.
In this image, robots from Team 4336 “Ramageddon Robotics” and Team 3636 “Generals” race to deposit cones on the grid during competition play in Hopper Division at the FIRST World Championships at George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas on April 22nd, 2023. The competing teams were split into divisions of around 75 with 8 matches going on in parallel for the first two and a half days. Winning alliances from each division then played against each other in a double elimination bracket to determine the winner of the whole event.
