Mossy Grave

One interesting find during our two day stop in Sitka was the Russian Cemetery. It’s situated on a forest-covered hill just outside the town center and the grave sites, some of which stretch back to the late 1800s, are scattered almost-randomly among the pine trees and rock outcrops. In this damp, temperate rain forest environment, many of the older grave markers like this one have subsided and become covered with moss.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 12mm
  • ISO: 2500
  • Shutter speed: 1/20s
