Longhorn Trumpets

I tried something new (to me) during yesterday’s game between the UT Longhorns and Mississippi State Bulldogs, mixing my previous “fisheye+flash” technique with Ralph Arvesen’s excellent “fisheye on a stick” trick to produce some group portraits of band members in the stands. Here’s one of my favourites showing some of the folks in the trumpet section. Next time, I must remember to consider the sun angle and try to avoid getting my shadow in the picture.

You can find all my images from the game at https://davewilson.smugmug.com/UT-Longhorn-Band/2024/Mississippi-State-September-28th.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/16
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 8mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s
