Brown Skua

A Brown Skua (Stercorarius antarcticus) seen at St. Andrews Bay, South Georgia on December 24th, 2024. These birds live on the periphery of many penguin colonies and have a bad reputation (as anyone who has watched Happy Feet will know) due to the fact that penguin chicks are a major part of their diet.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4.5
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 350mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter speed: 1/1000s
