Elon

In the annals of roadside art, this must be one of the weirdest entries. About half way between Brownsville and Starbase, on the side of highway 4. you can find a large-scale shrine to Elon Musk featuring an 8 foot tall bust (shown here) and a couple of pieces of billboard-sized art, one depicting the man himself and the other the legendary meme dog “Doge”. As far as I can tell, these were built as a marketing gimmick to promote a cryptocoin known as ElonRWA. The sculpture is also a frequent target of vandalism and now features a large band-aid.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 12mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s
