I had a fabulous evening yesterday covering the Longhorn Band’s trip to San Antonio to lead the annual Fiesta Flambeau Parade. The 3.5 mile route through the centre of the city was lined 10 deep with people on either side of the road and the atmosphere was amazing. I had no idea how big an event this parade is but I’m definitely keen to go back! Photographically, it was a pretty tricky event to cover because the parade is held in the dark. Rather than struggle with high ISO settings, I opted to take the arty route and took a large number of my after-dark exposures with a flash and a slow shutter speed. Here’s one of those images taken as the band marched past the front of the Alamo (the cream-coloured blob in the centre-right of the frame).
