Gilbert Candelaria is a metal artist based in the Eldorado neighbourhood outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. His art is prolific in the area where his wildlife-inspired sculptures are on a high percentage of local mailboxes (we have one on ours back in Austin) and his yard art is on every street. I had a lovely time yesterday getting to know Gilbert, and playing with plasma cutters, grinders and welding sets, during a class at his studio.
