Glassy Calm, South Padre Island

This was the view that faced me a few weeks ago when I got up early to visit the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. Just after sunrise, the bay was mirror-calm and reflected a nicely-placed line of cumulus clouds hanging over the mainland. Within about 20 minutes, the wind picked up and the sea surface returned to it’s usual rippled state.

You and I had the same thought today, posting a mirror like reflection off the water! Nice shot!

This picture is a surprise. I think your photography expertise must have helped because the water over there looks dirty to me. I like how you manged to not get any land in the photo.

Thanks, Tim. The water wasn’t too bad that day but, even if it had been muddy, the reflection would likely have been just as good since I was shooting at a low angle relative to the water, looking along the surface and focusing on the reflection rather than shooting into the water itself.
