Although I’ve visited the LBJ Library several times before, I had never shown up with a bunch of camera gear so was slightly worried on Saturday morning. Would Austin’s reputation as a photographer-friendly city be tarnished? Thankfully, my fears were unfounded and we had no problem shooting in the building at all. The only restriction imposed was that flash was not permitted and that was fine with me.
Although the ground floor is currently closed while the exhibits are renovated, the next floor up is open so it is still possible to see the main part of the building interior. It’s quite a sight with one whole wall offering a view into the archives and row upon row of red files each with a golden seal.
The library sits on the edge of the UT campus right next to Texas Memorial Stadium and is well worth a visit if you have some time. Entry is also completely free and, unusually for the area, so is parking.
Great composition Dave. I like the effect from the 15mm and realistic HDR.
