It seems that I take this shot about once a year. Normally this occurs when photographer visitors come to Austin and we decide to take an evening to shoot downtown. When blue-hour arrives it’s time to watch the bats leave from Congress Avenue Bridge then high-tail it over to Auditorium Shores in time to catch the skyline and reflection as the sky darkens.
This week, I had the pleasure of hanging out down here with Jon Stolarski who has been in Austin on business for a couple of months, and Chance Barber who found himself with an overnight here after flying in on his Southwest 737.
We had a packed evening, starting at the Capitol and shooting there then heading south for dinner and a pint before getting caught up in one of the many current women’s health protest marches as we walked down to the bridges. Lots of great shooting opportunities, for sure!
For the technically inclined, this is an HDR generated using the HDRSoft ”Merge to 32 bit HDR” Lightroom plugin. All processing after the merge was completed in Lightroom 5. It was also the first time I’ve used the new, automatic vertical correction tool in LR5 and, wow, that’s a useful new button!
Stunning night capture Dave! Those reflections are fantastic! 🙂
