Phew!

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is a must-see (or, actually, must-ride) attraction if you are lucky enough to be in that part of Colorado. The one-way ride takes about 3 hours during which you see some of the most amazing landscape you’ll find anywhere. Based on our experience, I would recommend taking the train one way and a bus (a 30 minute ride) the other. We took the bus to Silverton then returned on the train.

This shot, taken at the Silverton end of the line, shows the brakeman preparing himself for another load of enthusiastic tourists.
