Boardwalk on a Drizzly Morning

Photographically speaking, that was largely a rather frustrating weekend. It started off with me having to leave a very interesting lecture by Joel Grimes at Precision Camera when I got a call to say that there was a flood at our house (we got two and a half inches of rain in an hour on an evening when the wind was blowing from exactly the right direction to funnel most of it into our screened porch). After cleaning that up and having an early night, I got up for a sunrise photo walk on Lady Bird Lake and discovered a foggy, drizzly morning. I headed into town but the weather didn’t improve and I ended up shooting 1 picture (OK, a couple of dozen exposures of basically the same picture). So much for my plans to shoot a collection of images of the downtown bridges after breakfast. On the positive side, though, I did have a lovely breakfast with a collection of rather damp photography buddies.

Here’s the fruit of Saturday morning’s labour – a shot of the new boardwalk on Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. It wasn’t all doom and gloom on Saturday, though, but I’ll leave the positive bit for tomorrow. In the meantime, let’s hope that next weekend, which is currently planned to be even busier, doesn’t also coincide with another storm front!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/16
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 112mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 10s

Thanks, Mike. Only 2 weeks until we all get together for a shootfest in Maine! I can hardly wait!
