Downtown Austin from the Pfluger Bridge

We had fun during last Friday evening’s dusk downtown photowalk. We started shooting the classic Austin skyline from Auditorium Shores but, rather than following the original plan to walk up Congress Avenue towards the Capitol, we decided to head west to the Pfluger Bridge instead. This proved a good choice and I got several pictures that are new to me. This is the first, looking towards downtown from a vantage point above Cesar Chavez Blvd. It was taken a bit later than I would have liked – the sky is a bit dark – but it’s definitely interested me in going back some time to catch sunset from this location.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/22
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 38mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 30s

Dave, you’re inspiring me to get back out and shoot from there! This shot and a shot I saw from one of your students are great! The skyline is changing sommuch and you guys captured them wonderfully! Thanks for posting!

This was a great location, Evan. I’ll have to go back soon and capture it a bit earlier. We should try to organise an HDR Mafia get-together too – it’s been far too long since we all saw each other!
