The Independent, Austin, Texas

“The Independent” or, as locals call it, “the Jenga Building”, has recently opened and claimed the title of Austin’s tallest building, beating the previous record holder, The Austonian, by about 10 feet.

There’s currently a bit of a controversy in town over the semi-transparent, spiky crown at the top of the structure. Many folks, myself included, feel that it spoils the clean geometric lines of the building but I’m sure the architects and owners feel differently.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/11
  • Camera: E-M5MarkII
  • Exposure bias: -7/10EV
  • Focal length: 30mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s
