I promised rodeo so we’re now at the Brent Thurman Memorial Bull Ride which took place at Dripping Springs Ranch Park on October 17th, 2017. In going through this folder, I discovered several portraits and group pictures that I reckon will do nicely for the next few days.
This shot, taken behind the chutes just before the start of the event, is unusual in that I used a flash. Normally, I never use flash at rodeos but on this occasion I had no choice – it was dark outside and all the arena lights were turned off because there was to be a flaming logo on the arena floor. I was supposed to take photos of the person performing the national anthem and she was also in total darkness so I broke out a flash and tested it on these cowboys before completely failing to get a decent shot of the singer.
