Star Trails over the Pedernales River

I posted the original version of this image a month ago but here’s a better update to try and make me feel better after not taking the opportunity to re-visit the park this week and retake it. I called off based on the weather forecast and generally feeling tired, then watched Jason post a great Milky Way image shot under completely clear skies at 10pm on Tuesday. Oh well…

This version of the picture, taken in Pedernales Falls State Park, is comprised of 2 hours of star exposures (120 frames or thereabouts) and an HDR foreground which I shot after the sun had set but before it was really dark enough to see the stars clearly. I blended the stars in StarStaX and used Photoshop to mix the sky with the HDR foreground.
