Prickly Pear, Palo Duro Canyon

Another of the places we visited during our short trip to the Texas Panhandle last week was Palo Duro Canyon State Park. We spent a chunk of an afternoon on the very picturesque Lighthouse Trail in perfect weather for hiking – sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 60s Fahrenheit.

Large prickly pear cacti could be found beside the trail and I was taken by how much more aggressive and spiney they looked compared to the varieties we see in the Hill Country. You definitely don’t want to fall into one of these!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/10
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Focal length: 10mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/250s
