One of the things I enjoy about travel is that the wildlife that is commonplace at your destination is often novel and exciting to visitors. Here’s a great example – Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) are ten-a-penny on the Gulf coast but are completely alien to those of us living inland. Here’s a handsome adult I crept up on in Fort Morgan, Alabama yesterday as he perched on a dock.
