Spires at Marlboro Point

Another highlight of this October’s NxNW trip to Utah was our return to Marlboro Point, an amazing canyon lands overlook offering fantastic sunrise views. This year, storms in the few weeks before our arrival had washed out many of the dirt roads in the area so we were delighted to find a passable route after a couple of hours of trying different options on the day before our planned dawn visit.

I had covered many of the normal views from a tripod the previous year so, this year, I spent some time flying my drone around the area to get different angles on the spires just of the point. This is one of my favourite of those images. The shadow on the canyon wall appears to show a hole but, in fact, it’s just a trick of the light as the sun fell on two different promontories in the distance.
