Misty Forest, Alaska

As we left Petersburg, Alaska during our cruise last September, the light was amazing. The sky had broken after a day of overcast and showers, and the sun was beginning to pop through and dapple the surrounding forests which, wet from the rain, were swathed in fog. Pretty much everyone was on the port side of the boat but I was fascinated by the backlit trees on the starboard side and spent 10 minutes or so grabbing images like this one.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.8
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Exposure bias: -5/10EV
  • Focal length: 169mm
  • ISO: 320
  • Shutter speed: 1/1500s
