Glacial ice really is amazingly blue. This small iceberg was floating in front of the face of the South Sawyer Glacier in Alaska during our September visit and shows one of the shades. The deeper in the glacier the ice comes from, the bluer it is with some of the deepest portions being almost indigo in colour.
