Gentoo and Chicks

A Gentoo penguin with two chicks in a colony on New Island, one of the Falkland Islands, on December 19th, 2024. The landscape of New Island reminded me very much of the islands off the west coast of Scotland except for clumps of pampas grass scattering the moors and circles of nesting penguins!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.3
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 400mm
  • ISO: 500
  • Shutter speed: 1/1000s
