Another view of B-29 “FIFI”, this time showing the rear of the aircraft including the tail gun. The aircraft is named in honour of the wife go Victor Agather who was instrumental in acquiring it from the US military in the 1970s after it was found in China Lake, California where it was being used as a missile target. I can’t help noticing the fact that the name is capitalised which makes me think of the well-known acronym from historical aviation circles where FIFI stands for “F*ck it, fly it!”. Given how professional the crew were and how apparently-well-maintained the aircraft was, I can only imagine that this is a freak coincidence.
